Best cheesesteak sandwich in San Jose! Nothing fancy just good food - highly recommend - been going here for years!!

Used to work in San Jose many years ago and Amato's was a weekly ritual back then. Anytime I'm back in the area I stop by. Happy to say not much has changed over the years, same excellent quality sandwiches and good service. Breath of fresh air to see the consistency of excellence here, keep up the good work.

I've been coming to Amatos for the last 17 years and it's always been an amazing experience. They make the best cheesesteak sandwiches in the area hands down. My go to order is always the works shorty with some onion rings. It always hits the spot. Service is always on point and the portioning is fantastic.

Delicious cheesesteaks! The best in the valley! Lots of fresh hot juicy meat grilled with fresh veggies all on a tasty roll! If you can eat a large by yourself, then you need to enter into contests! Amatos is wonderfully friendly and homey in appearance. I could probably stay here all day watching football and eating a large cheesesteak. The fries are wonderful and so are the onion rings! I love this place! Go here! You will be super happy you did!

I came back from Philadelphia a few weeks ago and I tried my first ever cheesesteak and hoagie. I have been craving for a cheesesteak and a hoagie ever since. Luckily, I stumbled upon this place. I ordered a cheesesteak hoagie with sweet chili peppers and a regular cheesesteak. It was so amazing and reminded me of the ones I had in Philadelphia. Cravings were satisfied and I will definitely come back again.

Best cheese steak I've ever had. I came in on a Saturday night and there was no wait. The guy at the grill was cooking meat from a giant heap of beef so I knew it was going to be delicious. I went with the works, shorty size. The portions are amazing here. Expect to have some leftovers to look forward to next day. The works comes with everything you could want -cheese, peppers, mushrooms and of course a whopping portion of tender beef. The bread was perfect, slightly crusty and soft enough to not cut up your mouth but able to stand up to the amount of filling. For sides you need to get the fries. They're crinkle cut and crispy with a little bit of salt. They offer ranch which I say is a must. Perfect on the sandwich or with the fries. They offer cheese fries too so I'll have to try those next time. Definitely my go to place for cheese steak.

I have been to Philly and Amato's sits on the top 3 throne still for cheesesteaks. The owners here are from Philadelphia/New Jersey and it's been a San Jose classic since the 80s/90s. You know a Philly cheese steak is solid when the bread doesn't get chewy and Amato's has gotten it right. Don't worry about their massive menu, go with any cheesesteak with your desired add on and it will always be solid. They will make your cheesesteaks right in front of you if you get a counter seat, no games no gimmicks, pure joy. This is a true classic diner type of ambiance, none of that fancy blinging lights - just a generational family owned sandwich spot.

One of the best places to go to if you wanna a cheesesteak. This place gives you an old diner's vibes since there are many seats from one long table and the theme colors are red and white. The cashier was being nice to me. I got the original cheesesteak with a shorty size, but it looks like that it could feed at least 2 people. I would rate it 4.5/5 because there is not much cheese in the cheesesteak. Otherwise, it would be a perfect score. The fries were extra crispy too. I got the small size, but there are more fries when I got it. I wonder what the regular size would actually look like. Overall, this is one of the best spots to get a cheesesteak and I would definitely come back here again!
